UT Cellular to Clinically Applied Rehabilitation Research and Engineering (CARE) Initiative was started in 2013 by Dr. James Sulzer, professor of mechanical engineering, as a way of bridging rehabilitation research interests across multiple disciplines in the central Texas area. Dr. Linda Noble, professor of neurology and psychology, joined as Co-Director in 2017. Currently, the UT CARE Initiative represents 40 members from 5 institutions and 15 different departments. The CARE Initiative hosts monthly guest speakers from all over the world and an annual research symposium with graduate student and post-doc presentations and a keynote guest speaker. UT CARE Initiative also serves as a platform for sponsoring student projects, providing information and resources and supporting collaborations between members.
